Slightly Irregular
November 16th, 2008
With John Alan Turner
Part of the Home For the Holidays series.
If you do any of your shopping at outlet stores, you're likely to encounter the term "Slightly Irregular". Something is wrong with these items, and if you buy them, you're buying them with all the flaws and imperfections. There are no refunds or returns on items marked "Slightly Irregular".
Maybe everyone around your holiday table will be a paragon of mental and emotional health. More than likely, though, there will be at least one person sitting there with a tag sticking out from under their sweater that reads: "Slightly Irregular".
The truth is that we all come with these tags; some are just more visible than others. What we all long for most -- and the secret ingredient that turns houses into homes -- is for someone to accept us just the way we are.
